CONSCIOUS TEAMS IN ACTION
Conscious teams pay close attention to the state in which their work is being done. Team members understand that if their actions come from a place of fear, frustration, or stress, it is not received well by others and leads to an unproductive work environment.
Having that awareness, each team member takes responsibility for managing their state and communicating in a way that is based in curiosity and open-mindedness, rather than needing to be right. When leaders notice they are in a state of defensiveness, they pause, breathe, and reset.
They practice self-regulation, returning to a state of curiosity and openness. This creates a context of trust and sincere connection, where everyone feels safe to express themselves authentically.
When teams operate in this way, they build trust with each other. High levels of trust leads to an experience of safety on the team because they are no longer operating in survival mode. Rather, the team is open, curious, lighthearted, and creative.
Characteristics of a Conscious Team:
CONSCIOUS TEAM CULTURE TRANSFORMATION
Raise the consciousness of your team to easefully overcome challenges and quantum leap in performance.
Prerequisite:
Before we begin any team engagement, we first evaluate and assess the team leader’s willingness to change.
Because we believe culture change begins with the leader, we’re not willing to work with a team unless we genuinely feel the leader of the team is committed to their personal growth and willing to take responsibility for their influence on the team’s culture.
Assuming we feel a sincere openness and willingness from the leader, we proceed with our team culture transformation process explained below over a period of four months.
Our Process
We begin by assessing the current team dynamics and culture through a series of group and individual interviews and 360 surveys.
Why? The insights and information gathered clarifies where the team is unaligned on their commitments and to what degree the team trusts each other.
We host a workshop to teach conscious leadership and teaming tools and guide the team to align on a set of commitments and agreements that represent their desired culture.
Why? Without clear team commitments and agreements, issues continue to recycle. With this clarity, the team has a north star to help guide them and a set of tools to help through the process of change.
We insert ourselves into the weekly flow of team meetings to observe the team in action and offer individual and team feedback.
Why? Many consulting and coaching approaches are generic in nature offering a one-size-fits-all approach. We believe in real-time feedback and coaching that’s unique to you and your team based on what we observe.
We hold monthly team check-ins for the team to self-assess, give and receive feedback, and recommit to the vision.
Why? Giving and receiving feedback will be critical to the team’s transformation. During these calls the team will have an opportunity to speak openly about their experience and all team members will give and receive feedback for fine tuning.
After our final monthly team check-in, we leave and challenge the team to practice on their own.
Why? We believe conscious teams who are committed to their growth need to demonstrate leadership by embracing and practicing the new mindsets and behaviors they desire to embody at their own will.
Two months later, we host a follow up team check-in call to assess the team’s transformation and determine next steps.
Why? We’re human—it’s expected that the team will fall back into old patterns. We come back together to honestly assess where things are as a team, clear any built up tension, and determine what (if any) interventions could support the team to complete the culture transformation.

I’m Jonathan Perez
Founder & CEO
For 7+ years I’ve coached and trained hundreds of business leaders at Fortune 500 companies from executives to the front-line on topics including self-awareness, emotional intelligence, peak performance, leadership, conflict resolution, and more.
Here are some of the companies I’ve had the honor of working with: Salesforce, McDonald’s, Red Bull, Microsoft, eBay, Morgan Stanley, Ernst & Young, Bank of America, Maersk, Abbott.
Throughout my career coaching and training business leaders and their teams, what I’ve noticed is that they all want to perform at the highest levels, but they don't fully understand why they are stuck. So what do they do? They invest in more training, courses, consulting, and workshops—anything that they believe will give them an edge! Yet, what’s been most interesting to me is that organizations invest hundreds of thousands into their teams every year and are not seeing the long-term sustainable changes and performance they expect. Why is that?
What I've learned through my own personal development journey and working with hundreds of leaders is that nothing changes on the outside until we change on the inside. Unless individuals within an organization begin to take responsibility for their life, get curious, stop blaming others, and stop being victims, the organization will keep recreating the same challenges. Why? Because an organization is simply a collection of individuals who make up the whole.
Today, as Founder & CEO of The Conscious Teams Project, I bring my many years of personal and professional experiences to help executives and their teams move out of survival and into a new way of doing business. We do this by leveraging the latest science of change & transformation and leadership development.
The old change and leadership development models are outdated—focusing mainly on behavioral changes that don’t stick and teaching management skills. New leadership models go beyond that because they understand that without a change in consciousness within the individuals that make up a team, nothing changes at the organizational level in the long-run.
If you’re ready to move out of survival, stop recreating the same problems that don’t seem to go away, and evolve into a conscious high-performing team, let’s talk!
